Strive to be a Modern Day Batman

Most folks live fairly boring and uneventful lives. They should actually consider themselves lucky: for the foremost part, an ‘exciting’ life will mean trials and hardships that you simply would be more happy not having to face.

While we don’t need to live life as warriors, it’s nevertheless true that a lot of folks will look to warriors as role models and for inspiration. For instance, just what percentage people check out someone like Batman and consider him to be an appropriate male role model? Seriously, what little boy doesn’t want to be Batman?

This is actually a little strange really once you consider just how far removed most of our lives are from Batman’s. Once you consider just how different the items that benefit him are from the items that might benefit us.. The traits that make an excellent ‘Batman’ aren't the traits that make an excellent Father, Mother, employee, friend…

Or are they?

· Peak Human

In the comics, Batman is mentioned as a ‘peak human’. That's to say that he has the strength, the brains and thusly the talents of someone at the very peak of what’s possible for an individual human. He's said to know 127 martial arts, he can compete with record holders when it involves his weight lifting skills, he's ambidextrous, he knows forensic science, he can pick locks…

Yes, Batman is considered to be a fictional character, but the actual fact that many of us look up to him as we do, suggests that there might be something deeper happening here. Perhaps, Batman offers a blueprint for us to follow.

The question is how we'll practically apply the ideals of Batman to our modern lives…

· Growth and Motivation

In order to accomplish all the things that Batman has within the comics and films, we'd need to dedicate our entire lives to training, exercise, reading and developing our minds and bodies. In short: it'd be improbable for most.

Even if we were to tone things down into realistic proportions and to undertake learning slightly less and teach slightly less, we'd still be required to dedicate our entire lives to this pursuit.

Batman would likely use the ‘uberman’ sleep schedule to survive on 4 hours of sleep or less every day . He would likely use a spread of supplements and – according to ‘Becoming Batman’ – consume around 4,500 calories daily.

No real person could do all that in a span of their lifetime because we all generally learn that other things are more important to accomplish, we all have commitments in the modern world and thus the need to occasionally just relax and luxuriate in our lives. Batman is in a position to surge up each day and do all that because he's incredibly driven by his mission. It consumes him wholly and this is often a facet of his character that's explored over and over within the comics.

The point of the comparison is this: if you'd wish to develope a warrior mindset and if you'd consider the comparison to Batman, then you'd understand why you should hunt down what drives you.

Your battle won't go down on the streets of Gotham but within the confines of your mind, within the office of your employment or within the walls of your own home. However, it is the motivation and the drive must be the equal to his .
